Le Bons Bay Environmental Education Trust.

Vision.

Le Bons Bay Environmental Education Trust vision is to: connect and enable people to contribute, learn about, immerse in and share ideas and values on the Te Pataka oRakaihautu/Banks Peninsula natural and cultural environment.

Our Story.

In January 2013, after 138 years of operation, the Ministry of Education closed the Le Bons Bay School. The Le Bons Bay community, aware of the historic nature of the school and what educational possibilities the Bay has to offer, were determined to see the school facility maintained in community ownership and used primarily as an environmental education facility, but also be available for groups to run workshops and/or retreats.Bounded by a gentle river, native bush and set on an acre of flat land the former Le Bons Bay School is an ideal venue for extended environmental educational camps, and artistic and cultural retreats. The site is ideal for camping while the well maintained facilities offer kitchen, toilets and shower, and two rooms for activities.
